For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 8 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 8 | Hello, I am the member who asked on 7-26 if I could remove and replace a piston by dropping the oil pan. '57 261 L6 engine. From the responses I removed the oil pan and the head and found a problem piston. It has taken me a while, but I have a new piston. I have been using the old car online manuals for torque values and instructions, but a value is not listed for the pinch bolt. Does anyone have a value. Thanks, you have already been a great help, I can't wait to get the truck going again. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy Johnfog, this question came up very recently, I tried to look up the spec., but I couldn't find it either, so I suggested 25 lbs. ft. of torque. As the manual only talks about tightening this bolt with hand tools, I felt this torque would be more than adequate, hope that helps. | | |
