I bought a rebuild kit for it and proceeded to disassemble and clean the thing up. After a couple of days in the can of carb cleaner it looked like brand new. So I started replacing all of the parts that came with the rebuild kit. There are two identical little disc-like pieces that look like some sort of valve or something. One is in the tube that the plunger goes in. Well, I tried to pull it out with a pair of needle nose pliers and succeeded in mangling it up without being able to remove it! Now what? It had to come out. So I ran a screw down through it and eventually got it to come out, but not without messing up other parts of the carb body. I didn't scratch the plunger bore or anything but I'm not too happy with myself for how I went about doing things. My question is, what are these little discs? Is there a chance I really screwed something up? I got both out and got the new ones in the right way but I'm a little concerned that I might have done more harm than good.

This sounds like one of the deals I get myself into. I would do what I always do - put it back together and see if it works or not. If it does - good! If it doesn't, I go to the wrecking yard or the swap meet and get a used one and use the parts I need out to fix my problem. Sure, it holds up progress, but at least you got some choices! Good luck to ya! Joe

I was kind of going down that road myself, just trying it out once I get everything else back together. Everything else went smoothly with the carb. Now if I can just get the distributor put back together! Take care.

I had to destroy mine to get it out. the old one was made of metal. the replacement was rubber. Mine works but it is partly clogged.I have to be careful how I gas it.
