I have a Zenith carb for my 228. I bought a rebuild kit for it and proceeded to disassemble and clean the thing up. After a couple of days in the can of carb cleaner it looked like brand new. So I started replacing all of the parts that came with the rebuild kit. There are two identical little disc-like pieces that look like some sort of valve or something. One is in the tube that the plunger goes in. Well, I tried to pull it out with a pair of needle nose pliers and succeeded in mangling it up without being able to remove it! Now what? It had to come out. So I ran a screw down through it and eventually got it to come out, but not without messing up other parts of the carb body. I didn't scratch the plunger bore or anything but I'm not too happy with myself for how I went about doing things. My question is, what are these little discs? Is there a chance I really screwed something up? I got both out and got the new ones in the right way but I'm a little concerned that I might have done more harm than good.
