The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Interiors Dash repair panel

Hi all,
A previous owner altered the dash of my '59 pickup and now I have an ugly hole where a radio used to be. I dont want to place a radio back in this spot and a radio delete plate will no longer fit. I've seen a dash repair panel for sale through LMC. Does anyone have any advice on using one of these? How do they generally end up looking?

all the vendors carry them, if you're handy with a welder they end up looking like original, if you're no good at metal work it could look worse than it does now

Thats pretty much what I figured, I just wanted to make sure there were no huge red flags to watch out for.

i decide i wanted a clean dash so i cut it and welde a panel into place. check my photobucket when i was finished there was no sign that i had ever been there. i made the panel from a piece of sheet metal i had around. rick

Very cool, do you have any pictures of the interior after it was painted? Did you replace any of the control knobs after you installed the new panel?
