I've got a 62 pick up and have a couple of suspension options. I've got a complete front end from a mid 70's truck and one from a 89 suburban. Can i use the control arms from the 70's truck and the rotors and calipers from the suburban? Are they interchangeable?

Hi EZchevy truck guy here. You must change the whole cross member. the 62 dose not have a place for the spring.There are 7 bolts on each of the frame. four bolts on each side line up. the other three need to dill out. I have 2 62s a 61, That I have changed. I Used a 68 on one 74 on one,65 on one. I changed over due to cost of ball joints. The 62s are $140.00 each. And the others are $30.00 each. Hope this helps.

Guys, I think the actual question that JAH is asking is "are the 70's parts compatible with the '89 parts?". In that case, the answer is yes, the 89 parts will work with the '70s parts, provided that they are from a '73 or later trucks.
My question is Why do you want to put the '89 brakes/spidles on the earlier control arms? If you have the complete front suspensions form either truck, there really is no gain in putting the later parts on, as they a virtually identical. The performance will be the same.

Your right longbox. The only reason i'm asking is because i'm lazy. The 70's control arms are already pretty clean but the rotors and calipers are bad. The suburban is greasy and rusty but the brakes are clean. I was just trying to save some time. i'll just get off my lazy but and clean up the suburban parts.

Also remember that almost anything is possible, it just depends on how much work you're willing to do and learn. Along with the 63 panel i'm building i'm also helping my nephew build a 60 step. it was all orig but in bad shape. We already put a 78 tilt column in (took a couple of hours but was easy), we only had to change the column bracket, we were able to leave the column the length and even the shaft matched right up. we also put in the power brake booster from 78 and it also only took about an hour.

I'm doing all that too. The suburban suspension is in and i'm about to install the steering column and brake master cylinder from the suburban.

Can you still use the original parking brake assembly with the newer steering column?
