Given adequit rest time it starts fine. System is origional 6volt. Coil gets pretty hot. Is this due to a lack of a ballast resister, bad coil etc.? When this happens check the circuit with a trouble light until you loose power also check all the wiring and connections.
Shop manual should tell you how to check the coil or local auto parts may be able to check it also.

However, as coils warm up, the windings expand. If the insulation is bad, the coil will stop functioning. If this is the case, replacing the coil is the only option. 6 Volt coils do not need resistors when used in a 6 volt system.
