Hello everyone!

Got the oil filter, fuel filter, air filters, valves all clean....I drained the oil out of the pan in my 1953 GMC Pickup and it just kept draining and draining and draining...it was BLACK! previous owner left me with many suprises considering he was a mechanic....all the oil filled up an old 5 quart plastic container I had and looked like it still had a good bit to go....checked the level before i started draining but was wondering......
HOW MANY QUARTS CAN THAT BOOGER HOLD? dang

I searched on this site extensively but couldnt find a relevant topic....thanks everyone!

Gosh! Ok....so im not crazy! hahaha Thank you LONGBOX 55....I just wanted to make sure I had not gone too crazy yet!!! I know that any oil change Ive ever done has only used around 4 or five in our family's trucks.....but NEVER 8!! haha
Thank you for your assistance!!!

One more question....an advisee told me that if I can turn the fan, the motor was not locked up...TRUE OR FALSE??
If FALSE what should I look to turn to make sure??

That would be true. You might shoot some B'Laster or Kroil in the spark plug holes first, let it soak a bit, just in case there's a rust ridge built up.

Thank you so much LONGBOX55! and that is that the fan can turn....not the entire belt around alternator and all..right? (it was previously converted to a 12 volt hence alternator not generator)...I really appreciate your help....and the PB Blaster (that i love more than anything ive ever used) will it be alright to leave in there?

ONE LAST THING I PROMISE....Can i pour kerosene straight into the oil add in to flush out the nasty oil pan below....and just keep doing that to flush it out? or would diesel be a better option?

I believe what he's saying is that spinning the fan around should be able to turn the whole assembly as long as the spark plugs are out. But the PB Blaster might be helpful in getting it unstuck if it is, too.

The 270 and 302 engines with the deep pan and large filter take about 10 quarts. You didnt mention which engine you had and what size filter.
