I just picked my springs up at the spring shop. In the "bag-o-parts" to bring home and install on the truck were the spring bolts. The shop said the 11/16ths bolts are "easy" to get, but the nuts that hold em on are very hard to find.

Since the guy doing the springs has 37 years in, I believe him...

Anyone know where I can get those narrow profile spring bolt nuts?

Are you talking about the center bolt? This goes through the springs, holds the pack together and centers the spring on the axle.

John, was that at Kremer Spring up on the end of Robert St.? I've gotten the nuts there before in the past, but not lately. I think I do have a tap to clean up the threads in your old nuts if you wanna do that.

a-marc, Not the center bolt, but the main bolt...the big 11/16ths one that bolts the main to the frame, opposite end of the shackle...I never knew the nuts were "rare".

Yep. I took my springs to Kremer. It has been 20+ years since they worked springs for me, but wow, they treated me very well. They rebuilt new mains on the front and provided all of the hardware except for the rear shackles. They did not have any that long. Not that money is everything, but I figured I saved $150 by going there instead of buying off the web.

Best part was talking with the guy when I picked them up. He knew some folks that I used to know..After 37 years, he had some good tips and secrets. I wish it had not been 4:45 on a friday when I was picking them up.

About the old nuts...I must confess...I pulled all of them off with an air impact wrench. Wanting that part of the truck to be new and safe, I (GASP) tossed three of the four. I might have saved the others, but I don't think I did. I was not planning on re-using them since the bolts were worn half thru.

You must've talked to Gib at Kremer? I've always liked dealing with local shops rather than mail order, but sometimes mail order is necessary.

I could probably dig up some nuts for you here, really they are just lock nuts as the bolt threads into the mount that's riveted to the frame. I could mail them down to you?

Yep, Gib helped me out. Andy did the work, but had gone home for the day. Gib seemed like a very nice guy who knows his stuff.

Give me a couple of days to search for some new hardware. I am in need of another item too so I will E-mail you in a couple of days.
