for my 51 6100 im paying $500 annually. i dont have all the policy details in front of me. i asked about a lower rate and my agent said this is the lowest he could find and that was thru gmac. he had to list me as a landscaper in order to get the cost i have. he also went on to say insurance companies dont like to insure trucks that old commercially in todays fast world.

Biggest issue I had was finding smeone that WOULD insure my rig as it's considdred a comercial truck. I got some crazy numbers from most companies, finaly settled on Farmers for the best rate I could find. Lil fuzzy in the actaul number tho,...
Had to go with comercial insurance since I wanted to be able to drive it more thna once a week on dry sunny Sundays. Otherwise collectors registration & insurance is the way to go.

I can get antique insurance on my big trucks. It depends on what you're going to do with your truck. If it is commercial, forget cheap insurance. Check you're weight limits and farm truck rates if you can. I use my 57 6500 dump to haul rock but my insurance co doesn't know its a dump. I pay less than $75 a year per truck.

I have my 1964 GMC 4000 insured through Gulfway Insurers. $263 per year with a declared value of $3,000 (which I'll be increasing soon). They allow you haul your own stuff, nothing commercial or even for a friend. No mileage or day restrictions. Other classic car insurers were a little cheaper, but wouldn't allow hauling anything, not even a couple bags of mulch for my own yard.

I pay $700 a year but i use my truck for hauling concrete dirt rock. 1964 c-60

I had my '57 6400 dump classified as a farm truck and licensed for 20,000 gross weight. Nationwide insurance runs $525 per year for liability only. Its used for occasional farm work but mainly for hauling scrap away.

CORPO, yanno, if it's a 1.5 with a flatbed, you could easily call it a pickup truck and get standard insurance rates for it. It's when you have a dump box or large grain bed that it's hard to fight the "commercial" insurance issue. Dont think you'll have much issue with yours, just depends on wether you want to register it as a daily driver or a collector.

Had that problem with my "33" 1 1/2 ton. commercial ins rates were brutal. Called hagerty ins and got a good antique vehicle rate but not suppost to haul cargo. Recretional use only. Good luck!

Did my '54 4100 with Progressive.com online. They never even asked what size truck it was. $200 a year.

Since I can only drive one rig at a time, we have the 1945 chevy on the policy but suspended, and I just have to call in when it's going to be on the road. Our policy is with allstate. I think Oregon has some of the easier license/regs/ins., but maybe thats also because I live in a rural part of the state. It seems that all my rigs are vintage...2-1959 MM 1000's, 1972 VW westy, 2-1982 subaru BRATS, 1945 12' flatbed/1.5 ton...

For what it's worth, here in Maryland I have my '65 1.5-ton Firebolt on the same Hagerty policy as my '49 1-ton -- the Stovebolt.com flagship. A few restrictions (locked garage, minimal mileage, non-commercial use, no riders on the tailboard for fire trucks), but is $9/6 mo extra on the policy. I pay $50/6 mo on the '49 If you can meet the restrictions (which aren't unreasonable) the antique policies with insurers like Hagerty or J.C. Taylor are very affordable.

If not, Gulfway is an insurer a lot of big truck guys insure with. When I had my '73 International Loadstar 1800 Dump truck, I insured with Progressive and they were very good to deal with.

I have State Farm at $29 every six months. I don't have the C60 you have but it does have to be in a locked or controlled facility.

I don't drive it but about twice a week for thirty miles or so and it stays in a manned 24/7 fire station and that is why I think it is so cheap.

My '47 1 1/2 ton and my '59 F-350, I'm paying $306 per year for the two of them. They're still classified as farm trucks, even though they're not being used that way.

It gets kind of frustrating some times when you spend more on insurance than you do on gas!
