I have an all original 65 chevy short step with the original plain steel wheels.

are chevy truck rally wheels from the 73-87 series interchangeable for use on a 60-66 series?
are the bolt patterns the same?

I think 1969 was the last year for the 6 bolt lug pattern for the old chevy half ton trucks.

I'm pretty sure the '73-'87 were five lug wheels in half ton, except for the 4x4 trucks which are designated as K models. The K models retained the same 6 lug pattern as the earlier trucks. I've read of guys using the later model 4x4 wheels on their older trucks.

So, if you want to use the rallys, you need to look for 1967-1969 model in 6 lug.

When I bought my '65 C10 it had the 6 lug 4x4 ralley truck wheels on it.

Factory fit, no problems and there are a lot of other bolters running these too.

I have a set of those that i used to run. They are sitting in my garage right now waiting for some new skins. They fit perfect and look great. Check out my link at the bottom to see what they look like on there. I like the look and they are 8 inches wide too...

Actually, it was 1970 for 2wd 1/2 tons. The bolt pattern went to 5x5 in '71 with the introduction of disk brakes. 4x4 models stayed with 6 lug. The 4x4 Rallye, introduced in '73 on the Blazer 4x4, will bolt up fine. There was also a 5 lug Rallye, used mostly on vans. It was a 7" rim.
The only Rallye wheel used befor then was the Corvette Rallye, used from '67-'82, with a 14' version available on Chevelle, Camaro, and Nova from '67-'73/74. That one has a 5x4.75 bolt circle.

I have a 60 C10 that was converted to 5 lug wheels which I prefer. I have Rally wheels on mine.

There was something specific about 1969 that stuck in my head... hmn...
I think maybe it was something about the cab and body swapping from an AD truck to that frame.

any six lug from chevy (except recent wheels) will fit, even earlier datsun six lugs will fit - Ive done it in an emergency. I currenty have six 4x rallies on my 63

No, the truck rally wheels. Kinda the same idea as the corvette wheel, but the center of the wheel is different. They are painted silver with a trim ring and a center cap, but with chrome lug nuts. They look nice.

Nope. Blazer Rallye. These wre used on 4x4 Chevy/GMC trucks '73-'87, Full Size K5 Blazer/Jimmy '73-'91, and 4x4 Suburban '73-'91. They were first optional on the Blazer with the 10.00-15 tire option. There is a Corvette style Rallye available in 6 lug in the aftermarket, but these were not factory wheels. They also do not accept the Corvette center caps, only the "Police" style center or a Baby Moon type cap. Some palces also have a clip option that allows for a '56 Passenger car style dog dish cap.

In regard to the later model Toyota and Nissan 6 lug wheels, they will bolt up but the center hub on these are larger, thus you loose the hub centric feature.

OK, after hours of research questioning numerous tire shops and getting answers all over the board, i need HELP!

I'm finishing up my 65 C10 all but wheels/tires. I purchased a set of 6 bolt rally's on craigslist expecting an 8 in rim but they measure 9 or 9.5. (old tires aren't off yet). Were all mid 80's K wheels that wide ? The tire shops have said everything from 235/15's to 31 incher's.
That's a lot of money to put down for the wrong tires. So what is the optimal tire size for these rims?

Anyway, I could use some advice.

The OEM GM 6 lug rally wheels were available in 15x7 and 15x8.

The 15x7's were used on vans and base model trucks, 15x8's on Suburbans, Blazers and 4x4 trucks.

The width is measured with the tire off and is where the tire bead locks, not the outside total width of the wheel itself. That may be what is throwing you off

If yours are wider they could be an aftermarket wheel, or they could be wheels that have been modified.

As for figuring what tire will work on your truck... bolt the wheels on and do some measuring. Measure thrice, buy once.

Well then....that lessons my concern. I have the 10 slots, the three holes for the caps, and they came with 4x4 center caps. I'm fairly certain I have OEM wheels so when I take the tires off I expect I'll find they are 8in. That's a good thing. They have worn out 31's on now and i was trying to verify width with a tape measure but didn't know how many OEM widths there were. I did a test fit with the 31's and have no clearance issues so if they are 8's my options are wide open. Whew ! i was afraid I'd unknowingly bought too wide a wheel. Guess I got ahead of myself.

The 15 x 7 Rally was only made in 5 lug, never a 6. All OEM 6 lug Truck Rally wheels are 15 x 8, and originally were used with the 10.00-15 tire option. They were used later with the 31x10.50x15 radial tire option, and some did get used with 235/75/15s, though that is pushing it a little bit with that size. I've mounted everything from the 235/75/15 all the way up to a 33x12.50.15 on them, but either a 30x9.50x15 (which is what I have on my truck) or 31x10.50x15 in a floatation size works best. You could also use a 255/70/15, 265/75/15, or a 275/60/15 on those wheels, as they are approximately within the proper width to fit the wheel correctly.

This string told me in a couple hours everything I was trying to find out for two days....guess i should have posted sooner..:)
and thats probably why I got such a variety of opinions from the tire shops because they all work.

Coker makes them I believe. Not cheap I imagine. I have 6 lug wheels and have been looking also. My welds are getting old..

I stand corrected. In the 22 years I spent in the tire business, I've never seen a 7" 6 lug Rally, they must be very rare.
