Here's a tip that I thought I'd pass along here in the General Forum so more would see it... I've had this ongoing problem with my keys dangling from the ignition and scratching the dash. Yes, I know I could just have the truck key on a clip but I don't.... Well, I came across a clear laminate that's actually designed to protect the faces of electronic gizmos like blackberrys, cell phones, etc. I adhered it to the dash area right below my ignition and * voila * no more scratches! It's clear and has a gloss sheen to it but it's hard to tell that it's there. Nice tip LB. That could maybe work anywhere there is constant or repeated rubbing/contact from arms or hands. thanks.

There used to be "scratch guard" things that went behind the ignition switch and followed the contour of the dash down a bit.
I don't know if they were a factory or after market thing. They disappeared when keys went to the steering column. I had a 1953 Merc that had one. This is just some of the worthless knowledge that is running around in my head.

Les, all of us suffer from the WKS 'worthless knowledge syndrome'... but it's important to someone somewhere!

I don't mind the scratches from my keyring, it just means it's driven.
