old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,867 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,867 | Can anyone tell me if an sm420 with an open driveshaft measures the same from the rear face of the transmission to the yoke, as an sm420 with the driveshaft brake attached, again to the yoke? Its been on my brain a bit lately and I was wondering if the distance was the same, hence no dinking around with shortening a driveshaft if the swap happened. These things pop into my brain when I have to much free time... Thanks, Jeff | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 . | | . Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 | I think they are the same. My 1 ton had the trans with brake from a bigger truck, and appeared to be the right and original driveshaft without modifications.
You should still get a real answer before deciding, but so far I think they are the same.
