Hello,

I am new to this forum and newto restoring vehicles. I will have a lot of questions in the future (some of them probably pretty stupid) so any information will be greatly appreciated.

Now for the first question:

I have 2 1960 Chevy trucks (c10s) one is pretty much complete but the other one has no engine.

I want to restore these trucks to their original state. So for my first question - How can I tell what enging was originally in my truck that currently does not have an engine???

I'd check to see if the engine mounts are at the front (235 6 cylinder) or on the sides = 283 V8. also the exhauset pipes if any should tell you if 6 or 8.

Also you can look at the front hood emblem the six cylinders had a hood emblem some smaller than the eight cylinder.Most likely they were 235 six cylinder trucks but that can't be verified by any of the numbers,such as VIN numbers.

ok - I don't have the the hood and I don't have an engine. I did not see any engine mounts on the sides of the frame. at this point I am leaning towad a 235 as the original engine - if any one has any other information please let me know.
