#55013 01/15/2006 7:59 AM | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy blkhrn, As a bare minimum, with the truck sitting on its wheels you should be able to disconnect the "U" bolts at the diff.and be able to take the U joint out of the yoke and swing it clear, a little more clearance than that would be better. There are a lot of custom driveshaft shops out there if you give one a call or find one on line they should be able to tell you how to measure between your trans and rear end and how long the tube and yoke assembly would be with a given slip yoke. So as your univ joynt's collar is about 1'' away from the tranny. this leaves about 1'' movement when the truck bounces in it's normal operation and the slip joynt can travel.
