It appears that Number Seven is missing some pieces. Does anyone have any pictures of a 1946-1953.1 3600 Rear brakes with emergency brake cable hookup?

I'd like to see what they look like so I can poach some off of another truck.

Thanks in advance.

Are you sure you are missing parts? There aint that many! Inside the drum is a cross bar that pivots on the spine of the forward shoe and has a slot that fits around the emergency brake lever attached to the other shoe. The bar crosses just below the return spring, parallel to it. The lever is a thick sheet metal unit that pivots near the top of the rear shoe and extends down to near the bottom of the drum, with a hook on the end open to the rear.

The e-brake cable end goes on this hook. When the cable is pulled, the lever pushes on the cross bar and forces the shoes apart.

The fittings to attach the cable to the backing plate should come with a new cable. Be warned: some will advertise 3/4 ton cables, but they are just 1/2 ton cables with an extension. The cable sleeves won't reach the brackets on the frame as they are supposed to.

Sorry, no pictures now. I'm doing this from memory in Zurich. I'll try to post something when I get home.

Current fleet (subject to change w/o notice)
\'49 GMC 3/4-Ton , 60 Austin Healey Frog-eye Sprite (some assembly required), 2011 Dodge Avenger, 2015 Jeep Cherokee. No, they don't all run.
My other ride is a (B737)no, (B767)no, A320.... Update... was Embraer E190, now Boeing B787.

Highflyer:

No, I'm not sure. The Emergency Brake cables were cut off at the backing plate fittings and the remnants of the cables were just hanging in the drum not attached to anything.

It sounds like I'm missing that whole assembly. The only things that are in my rear drums right now are the two shoes, the four mounting bracket plate things, five pins, a cylinder, and a return spring.

I'll look forward to the pictures! Thanks!

Thanks for the link. I have a copy of the shop manual and it has no pictures and a very sparse paragraph regarding the E-Brakes. I do appreciate the help, though.

While this didn't have a picture of the parts I need, this WILL help when I get the gizzies installed. Thanks!
