My specific concern(question) was if the pinion offset created a problem with vibration and u-joint wear. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, John

The 14-bolt under my '55 1st GMC looks to have the pinion exactly centered under the frame.
The project isn't finished so I've not experienced any problems like you mention. At least not yet...

My truck is a 50 1/2 ton. I have the 9.5" 14 bolt with 65" width. From what I have gathhered on some drive line forums all 12,and 14 bolts are offset. the axles are equal and the diff is centered, but the pinion is offset 1/2" to the right. I also checked the spicer link in the tech tip section. I believe the offset is well within spec for compound angles, but was wondering if anyone currently had one running. Thanks again, any info, opinions are arrpeciated

The pinion is offset at least 2" from the centerline of the frame, and millions of them were produced. I have no idea why that was done, but a driveline can handle some pretty radical side-to-side deflection without any problems. Jerry
