I don't think it would hurt them at all...I have done it myself and have seen other folks do it.

The wheels were designed to be riveted and how old are they now?
So long as they are all tight and none missing I'd leave them alone.
Personally haven't had any problems with riveted wheels, nor have I heard about anyone who has.

One piece rims. Hub piloted wheels (not stud piloted). Have the smaller holes for the studs (I'm thinking 7/16 but not for sure).
Mine hold air just fine, but were in fairly decent shape. If yours hold air, then I would not weld them. | | |
