The exhaust manifold runs right into the gearshift linkage. I put one in a 56 2years ago & never had a problem. Also it has a bellcrank on the bell housing that wasn,t on the last one I did. Can someone tell me the difference. I,d like to keep the column shift. :confused: Thanks. George

My 90 MK VII came with tubular headers from the factory on the 302 v8 and it was a quiet car so don't worry about noise. I went to my partners salvage yard & looked at some others. It seems the 56 up & 55 v-8 has different linkage. The levers are shorter & the 2-3 is curved up. I got the whole system off a 58. Thanks for the replies.

The shift pattern is backwards but worked fine on a 1932 Chev. coupe with a 1940 column shift. Also could shorten the shift shaft and move the shift box farther up on the column. There are no insolvable problems only some are so complex it's not worth the trouble. Stay at it, you'll figure it out, I did. | | |
