on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! I have started to notice that many grain beds on mid size trucks with hoists, have the rear painted white. There is a '58 Viking Chevy C50 on Ebay right now that is a good example. Is this because of visibility issues (getting rear ended, backing up at the grain elevator)?? Does anybody know why??? | | | | | Joined: Jan 1970 Posts: 365 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 1970 Posts: 365 | I always figured white might be a little easier to see. Red paint seems to fade as it ages and it fades to a kind of dull orange. White will turn chalky but it is still white.
Imagine you are in your truck with a full load of wheat chugging along the road headed for the elevater. The white color of the rear box panel would seem to be more visible when a car comes up from behind. | | |
