Hi I would like to get a bit more speed and a bit less RPMs out of the 40 without changing to an open driveline. Will a later 4 speed 1950 to 1954 help? Or is there a kit to install the saganaw 4 speed?
I plan to do Patricks 3:55 rear ring & pinion swap, but when I replace the clutch and preasure plate I wonder if I could/should change transmission also?? thanks Bill

All the trannys you listed will not improve your speed as high gear is 1:1 on all of them. Plus you are talking about major surgery to even fit a Saginaw to your torque tube. Why not just make the leap now to open driveline, makes life so much nicer. With the open drive line then you can think about great things like a T-5 overdrive trans. If you must stay with torque tube then just swap in Patrick's gears.
