How difficult is it to rebuild one? Is there a lot of Fine-Tuning involved, and does the job require special tools?
I'm thinking of hiring this out, but I'd also like to take a crack at it myself. I'd just like to know what's involved before I make a decision.

If it's loose and sloppy it will either need a trip to the machine shop or replaced. Other than that is a standard carb rebuild.

| | | | | Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,002 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,002 | If you want a good book on Quadrajet rebuilding and tuning Carbking posted this book sometime ago "How to rebuild and modify Rochester Quadrajet carburetors" by Cliff Ruggles. I have a copy excellent book. In addition to what 55 tractor said there are also couple of seals in the bottom of the float bowl that need to be checked for leakage. The book also explains that Qjets were tuned for a particular engine and switching to another engines requires retuning the Qjet, it's explained in the book.
