I am in the middle of swapping the original 4 speed tranny in my '63 C-10 to a T-5 out of a '91 S-10 and have reached my first head scratching holdup. Anyone converted to a hydraulic clutch before? Any pointers for mounting the master cylinder?

Take a look at a 60-62 V8 pickup setup. The stock clutch master cylinder might bolt right in, but you will need a V8 bellhousing from the same years.

Why would you have to change the clutch to hydraulic?

The price was right on the new trans (free) but it has an integral bell housing so I can't keep the original setup which means I have to reconfigure the clutch linkage...hydraulic seems easier since the slave cylinder is prominant feature on the new trans.

The 60-62 clutch master cylinder may work if the brake master cylinder didn't change from 62 to 63.

Be sure and check the bolt pattern on your T5 transmission bellhousing. If it is from a 4 cylinder it won't match your 1963 motor. It needs to be from a 4.3 V6 or V8 to bolt to your engine. If your bellhousing was detachable the transmission would bolt to your original bellhousing.
