Ive looked on LMC Truck and a few other websites and can only find stainless lines. can you get just regular steel lines? I would rather not spend a bunch of money on stainless, although at some point in the future I do plan on installing stainless lines. just dont have the money right now. Parts stores are now carrying rolls of the new nickel/copper alloy lines. Will last beyond your lifetime, yet are easy to bend and flare. And costs less than Stainless. But more than the regular crap which will be rusted out on a winter daily driver in 18 months or less. Build plan: 65 Chevy one ton, 5.9L Cummins HO, NV5600 six speed, 2wd 1972-1987 IFS disk front, frame off restore/mod, custom dump/flat bed, Alcoa rims, Dana 70 3.73:1 duals drum rear, plush interior, Guards red with Marine Corps decals. Donor is retired 2002 Ram 2500, 194K miles.
| | | | | Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 21 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 21 | I recemtly completed a conversion to stainless on my 66 Short fleet w/ power brakes. I purchased a kit from inline tube. The kit had 5 six foot sections of 3/16 tube. They included lots of extra fittings.
The material was easy to bend & cut but I could not get it to flare for anything. I tried two local hydraulic shops & the second shop was able to get the flare correct about every other time on average.
My truck had a 1/4 line from the master distribution block back to the rear axle tee so I had to get 12' of 1/4' from Inline to complete the project. I have about 10' of 3/16 left over.
I like the look of the stainess & knowing that I won't ever have to replace or worry about rust out again, but next time I'll buy a prebent/prefit kit.
