It has a diverter with a lever on it to divert the flow either thru the defroster or to the floor. I cannot get much flow out of either defrost hose, but the drivers outlet is worst, probably because it is longer. I have had it all apart and checked for obstructions, but it just won't put out. I searched the forum for this and came up empty. Suggestions please!!! I can't see thru the frost. Thanks - Scott

#53688 12/16/2005 7:44 PM | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,095 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,095 | i have a 54 with the same setup and mine flows good but i have difficulty keeping the metal connector at the top staying where it belongs, i can't get both hands up there to hold it while i turn the screws to hold in place. i did put cardboard over the radiator and it has a 6 volt motor in a 12 volt system that runs very fast i am going to slow it down a little this afternoon with a reducer. it may just be the speed of the fan. ron

#53690 12/16/2005 11:45 PM | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,095 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,095 | i just finish modifing mine, i had a off-on switch with a 12 volt system and a 6 volt motor and the rpm was so high i couldn't even hear the engine, soooooooo i put an on-off-on switch and a reducer on one side and a direct hot to the fan wire on the other side. one way to force air up to the defrosters is to cover most of the floor outlet with good ol duck tape, black if you have it to make it look good, ha ha!!!!!!! There is a portion of the outlet that is unaffected by the diverter. I cut a piece of tin and bolted through the existing screen to block that flow. As a result I got more air through the defroster ducts and less noise from the passenger seat. The windshield clears nicely, but I still have to crack the vent window to keep the side windows defogged. | | |

Thanks for the input. I was contemplating something like that but was worried I had something hooked up wrong. I thought gm would have figured it out after 8 years of making these trucks. They are, of course, perfect in every other way. -Thanks again - Scott
