I am looking for a tie rod for a '56 3600.
I have searched here and there, cannot find one.
I have in the past straightened them and welded a long piece of angle iron on but do not want to on this one.
Anybody have an interchange or oem part number?

Are you looking for original? If not one slick solution is to used the rods and applicable ends from Speedway. I modified my 1950 3600 to accept that and used their parts to make an adjustable pittman arm as well. It is the only way to fly if originality is not the hang-up. You can build a really nice tie-rod and arm for about $110. I would stay away from the angle iron method personally.

The same tie rod was used on Chevrolet 1/2 ton pickups from at least 1937 through 1954 second series. I would check and see if they used that tie rod in 55-56 also. They didn't change this stuff back then that much. Chevs of the 40's has tie rods - you might try them.
I believe the key to finding a bunch of these parts is to identify the years and models in which they were used, especially mechanical. A clue to this thinking is the fact that they used the 216-235-261 engine design and parts from 1937 to 1962.
