I've bought a gauge panel from a International truck tractor with some realy cool gauges and are wondering how to identify the proper sending units for them. The local parts stores have been no help with out a exact year and model of truck their from. Is there any way to id the gauges asto the maker.

Sorry I'cant post pictures right now but I did figure out that they are made by Sewart Warner. Would sending units for their after market gauges work for their comerical gauges?

Gosh dude, You need to answer some questions. Are they electric or bulb type? If electric, you can use a varable resistor (often called a pot) to simulate a sender unit. Bulb type is another horse. You might also contact someone like John Wolf in Ohio or your favorite gauge repair person who could tell you what you will need. Another route may be to look in some old repair manuals. I purchased one off ebay which covers about all the gauges from '35 to '48. Not like today, it explains the "innards" of various manufactures of gauges. Ain't it fun! BTW, the old Stewart-Warner company is no more. I tried to talk old gauges to their sales reps at a car show and I knew more about their old gauges than they did.
