No this is not a cliche ;-)
Seriously, I have a 64 C10 and I am under the suspicion that the rearend on my truck is not original. Mostly because the track arm has a different mounting on all the catalogs that I look at for parts, also it has the two piece driveshaft and the mounting for the bearing looks "homemade" Here are some pictures.

I would sincerely appreciate any help in finding out what is going on so that I can replace the bushings on the track arm.

It looks like someone modified the carrier bracket to accomodate a different style carrier bearing. The tracking arm is a panhard bar and it looks right to me,

Thanks for the info. The panhard bar in the catalog mounts to a pin/bolt that is in the rear axle as you can see in the pictures, mine has a bracket welded to it. I have seen a similar bracket sold to adapt a "modern" axle to our trucks.

That panhard bracket looks just like the one on my 62...dont know why somebody would do that to the newer rear though ohwell

Well not sure it's "new" that was just my assumption since it was different from stock but I guess it could be from an older one as well. Would it be possible to get a picture from you Mark?
