For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 71 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 71 | I would do a search but I don't know what these are called. My 53 3100 has a wing shaped flap of metal attached to the upper door frame just above the vent window on both sides. They are attached with phillips head screws so I suspect they are aftermarket rain covers so you can crack the vent without water getting in the cab. I don't see them on pictures of otherwise stock trucks. Were they a factory option? | | | | | Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 104 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 104 | I think they came as original equipment, but I may be wrong. My truck has them. Where in Texas are you? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,703 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,703 | My 52 also has them, I believe original eqpt. You can almost see the deflector in this Master parts Book. Some people added a stainless steel non-GM air deflector. Any possibility you can post a link to a picture of what you are referring to? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 71 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 71 | FastEddie- I am in Plano-DFW area
Tclederman- Yes that illustration looks to be them. Mine were painted which makes sense for that year. | | |
