I searched the archive but couldn't find my answer. I'm tearing down my 55.1 235 using a guide I got off this website. I'm to the point where it says to "remove the lifters". What's the secret?

just going to have to work them back and forth to get past the varnish on the bottom might try some kroil on them any you are going back and forth to help break the bond of the varnish .going to have to use some pliers (channel locks ) or carefully vise grips .unless you wiped out the cam and crowned the lifter .

I thought they would be right below the rocker arms but they were on the side of the head accessed by a cover plate. Stupid me. Seven of the 12 just slid right out. The last 5 I sprayed with Kroil and am letting them sit.
