I'm doing a '57 Cameo. We've swapped the front end with a Camaro. I'd like to put larger wheels and tires (the originals were 14's or 15's I think) on it. How can I do this and use original hubcaps? Someone suggested using larger (taller I think) tires but then somebody else that would make a rough ride. I'd think somebody has been down this road.

You might check with Wheel Vintiques or perhaps Mooneyes. I beleive they can set you up with a 15"-17" rim with the clips to be able to use the stock caps. I would suggest either the 15 or 16, whcih would be more compatible with the factory available trim ring sizes.
A taller tire wouldn't be a good option in this case, as with the Camaro subframe, the ride hight is most likely lower than stock. Probably something along the line of a 28" tire would be good, such as a 235/75/15 or 245/65/16.

I went the same way with a 'vette frontend. I chose "Wheel Smith" as they had the 'artillery' wheels I wanted. They modify your hubcap to fit their wheels by welding an adapter ring to the cap. Offset was my way to get bigger tires under the 'fat fendered' street rod as I had lots of room to the inside of the wheel. Bigger wheels will get you fender rub if you are not careful. BTW, it ain't cheap. Four wheels plus the mod to the hubcap, beauty rings, powder coating, and shipping equaled $1175.00. That's not counting the $250.00 for new hubcaps plus the rubber.
