Unless you're running an original-equipment AM radio, you'll never notice the difference if it's left off. If you want it there just for appearances, check it with an analog ohmmeter (the type with a needle, not digital). If it's working, the needle will rise, then quickly fall back toward an open-circuit reading. Ground the insulated lead to the condenser case before trying the test a second time.

A capacitor (condenser) attached to the Field terminal will interfere with proper regulator operation.

Here are instructions for installation of all the noise suppressors. (thanks again go to Keith Hardy for making this documentation available) In the 1954 6v radio installation guide, it is suggested to run a flat ground strap for the head (from a bolt into the head, rear of the coil) to the firewall (to a bolt that hold the fender rod to the firewall). | | | | | Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 190 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 190 | What your after was originally called the "radio By-pass condenser" and it is just like mentioned above, a noise suppressor. They were originally a .3MF condensor...MF=microfarad. Anything available today is a .5MF. I can supply this in a kit with original style condenser, mtg. bracket, original style mtg. screw and the Warning tag telling you to not attach it to the Field terminal. PM me if I can help.
