I'm Mike and just recently got a 1949 Chevrolet 3/4 ton pickup. I realy enjoy working on the older vehicles, expecially ones WITHOUT computers. Now i really hope i don't get folks upset, but i'm not planning a restoration here. I will need to be replacing my current daily driver, 1997 GMC 4x4 1/2 ton. This truck is starting to get up there with it's miles, 165k and still has a lot of work left to do, until i can get the 49 in service. I'm hoping for a 1 year build time and here is what i will need...
Dependable
Easy to work on
4X4
Automatic trans
Ability to tow (at least same capacity at the 97 GMC)
Seat 4
OK, so there is my dream list. I also have another 49 cab and passenger door. I've seen pics of folks making the Advanced Design trucks into extended cab models. I'm going to try and go a little further and make one into a 3 or possibly 4 door extended cab truck. Just from early measurements, it looks like i will be extending the overall length by 18-24 inches. That will make the wheelbase somewhere around 143-149 inches. So, what do you guys out there think? Is this doable? Is this guy nuts? The truck will be a mile long and impossible to park? Drivetrain will be problematic? Quit now and take the money and go to the nearest bar? I would apprecate your comments, good or bad.

Nothing but headaches there  and nothing to show for you $$ I've seen several stretched trucks and they do have a character of their own. I think it would be cool and maybe even a one of a kind. It is definitely doable from what I've seen.....and you do not have to "park" it. Do like the limos and just pull up to the curb and let folks wonder who you are!!!
