What kind of tire jack was original on the 54 half ton, and B. Where was it kept? I have an axle jack, screw-with-the-tire iron-type, I got from a friend who deals only in 55 to 59 trucks and he showed me the clip behind the bench seat on the driver's side, if I remember correctly, and it's attached to the floor near the gas tank. The 54 doesn't have any such attachment, only the space under the seat but there is no clip or strap nor nuthin' to keep it and the iron from sliding around. I suppose the owner's manual would show me (but I ain't picked up a replacement one yet! Did just about everything else though...)

The picture in the link below shows the bracket I am writing about between the heater hoses and the starter: http://community.webshots.com/photo/109150147/109004142yqxpUp

I think there is a picture of one in one of my Webshots albums. My user name there is spe130.

I have nothing like that in the inner fender on my 54 3100. There might be some old holes there, giotta check, can't remember, but there is definitely no bracket left like yours. So I have the correct jack, just need to figure out where it goes...the 54 shop manual doesn't cover this topic at all. I'll have to pop for a repro owner's manul!

If anyone could confirm this is indeed a jack mounting bracket that would be great. I would also like to see pictures of the entire jack mounting assembly if anyone has one, since I believe that this is only part of what I believe to be a jack mounting bracket.
