| | THANKS!
For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 13 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 13 | also am i right in that the vin # for the cab is pbly on the door frame?. is there anyway to tell a 60 thru 66 3/4 ton frame frome a later generation swap in?. it's amazing how many older trucks have been placed on newer 4x4 frames. i know the 66 and back had the divorced transfere case. this truck does have 8 lugs.
sorry about all the questions i've been asking lately but this is the best place to go since i don't know anyone who is up on the older trucks.
thanks again.

It should be stamped right there in easy view. Also look for a stamping on the front frame horns, on the outside of the rail. You may find the year of manufacture. It might say something like "60" with a circle around it. Don't freak if it's an earlier year than what your truck is. They just used up the older frames first. (Not clear if your are looking at a K20 or not but, you may look at the spring hangers-the stamped pieces- look very closely and you may see a GMC script on them if they are clean and rustfree. 4x4 only and yes, this applies to Chevrolet 4x4's) | | | | | Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 13 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 13 | woops, sorry, i should have said it's a GMC. although the chevy info is still usefull i'm printing it off as we speak. does this all apply to GMC as well?.
