for some reason I am getting air in my fuel line. I can see it coming in the fuel pump glass. tried putting on a new fuel line back to the tank.. still sucking air. where is it coming from?

I assumed that maybe the dip tube is cracked or holes in it. so I filled the tank with gas. still sucking air!!

I will drive a couple of miles and the car would act like its running out of gas. I would pull over look at the fuel pump and there would be half a bowl of fuel in there. but the separator near the carb has plenty of gas in it.

perhaps there is a hole in the diaphram? I'm gonna try an electric fuel pump.

You are pulling air from somewhere. Check your connections. Also, if you can put some low air pressure in the line, you can look for air leaks by using soapy water on all the outside parts of the line. Do a small section at a time. Cecil...........

Check any hoses and the fuel line for cracks that open up during operation. The fuel pump creates a partial vacuum in the line to draw the fuel from the tank and will suck air through any pinholes and/or cracks.

I had a fuel line that rubbed on the frame enough to wear through and allow air to be sucked in but not enough to make a noticable drip. The fuel line and frame were 'damp' but no fuel was dripping.

So, check the line as well as the fittings and hoses for pinholes, scuff marks, and cracks.

Hope this helps.
