I Just Bought a replacement Dash for my 59 Chevy Apache. My question to all of you is how the heck does the old one come out, and how do I put in the Replacement? From what I am seeing its not bolted in so I am assuming that I have to cut out the old one (unless I am missing something). Is there a certain procedure I should do this in so i don't tear up the cab of my truck, and will I be welding in the new one? Anybody that has done this I would appreciate any advise, I would rather learn from your mistakes than make my own..........JOSH

There are a whole bunch of spot welds. You have to drill those out to remove it. I'm sure someone will be along who can give you more details. I've never replaced one but I know that subject has been covered here before so you may also want to do a search.

I haven't yet looked under the old dash which is still in the truck to see were the spot welds are but the replacement one I can kind of tell were the welds are. When I bought the Dash off ebay it was still in the truck, which was a wrecked one I guess cause when I received the dash they just cut the cowl, pillers and everything else the dash was attached to and sent me everything.

you need to drill out the spot welds around the windshield flange, which are usually right on the edge of the flange, and carefully do the same on the brace [that goes where the steering column hangs on the dash to the inside of the firewall] .... this is not a fun job, and you'll likely break more than 1 drill bit .... you could also cut the windshield pinch flange right off and fab a replacement piece, but it's critical you get that windshield pinch weld back to the right size, shape and thickness to fit the windshield rubber ... sometimes [most times?] it's better to cut out bad sections and patch them rather than replacing the whole dash - either way requires some welding and bodyworking skill
