For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 25 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 25 | After running this 250 engine for 10 years,I think it is time to rebuild her. I drive the truck as a daily driver, tow a light weight trailer.Three speed transmission, stock rear end, gear ratio unknown at this moment.
What are some improvements I can have done to the head for better fuel mileage?
What would be the best cam to use for towing and mileage?
Would flat top pistons be best for thiss type of rebuild?
If you have any more advice for this engine please post it

The truck was own first in the sixties by a natural gas company. No telling how many times this engine has been rebuilt.

head work for a low end puller just clean up the intake ports. the exhausts can use a little more work. as for carbberation. get a dual carb intake use to staged 2 bal. carbs the fuel distrabution is a big step forward.
you can go a little bigger on the valves.
