I would like to hear the motor more than stock though. tips and suggestions? i am looking to not spend a lot of money on the muffler, but sometimes this must be done. I am gonna get the new pipes hung for $100, and he will put in whatever muffler i bring him. I just dont know what to put in.

I am going to need a new muffler very soon, and don't know what to buy. Like you I would like a little rumble, but don't want a lot of noise. I have seen flow masters refered to a number of times on this site, but I don't know that is? Can you tell me what they are? Allen

I really like the outcome.

The stock manifold really quiets things down. The nice thing was the the original round muffler clamp fits it just fine.

It was an audio center where you could push a button and hear how an engine sounded with the 6 different aftermarket mufflers they carry. It helped me quite a bit in selecting the correct muffler for my 66. The right sound sure makes a difference.

The sound difference in single mufflers coming out of a stock manifold is minimal. If you want music, you gotta go duals.

The Manager has a rod and suggested cutting the pipe before the existing muffler and fitting it into a Flowmaster with duals coming out. Custom bent two pipes out with chrome tips. I lost my under-bed spare carrier but iwa was going anyway.Looks and sounds great. My only do-over would have been to replace the exhaust pipe from the manifold out, since my Tuffy guy welded it into the Flowmaster.Total cost was about $250
