Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 39 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 39 | I have a 1959 235 engine replacing my stock 216 and I am usuing a adapter plate to raise the water pump to the center of the radiator and will be using a 1954 NAPA water pump.My Question is the water pump pulley seems to small ,the original 235 pump had a bigger diameter pulley ,has any one had problems with the pump spinning to fast or cavitating?I know Patricks sells a special made pump with the bigger pulley but it is to low on the radiator ,and I like the idea of getting a replacement locally | | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 1,317 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 1,317 | If you'd like to read information on the adaptor plate install you can find it at the bottom of this page: http://good-times.webshots.com/album/550294207eijCcS?start=132 If you click on "full sized" up in the right-hand corner of the webshots page, there is an explaination of the correct balancer/waterpump combination that will be enlarged so you can read it. I've been running this setup for 2 years with NO overheating issues.....runs thermostat (180) temperature even with the A/C. If you note on the adaptor plate, the water ports are reduced in size while the so-called "short pump" mounts into the block itself. Dave | | |
