Hy Oldtruck1946, according to my Canadian parts book the drag link is the same, the tie rod ends are different, and the third steering arm is different [the one the drag link attaches to], hope that helps.

3B's right, the ball studs use a tapered shaft. To get them off you have to drill out the center and drive them out. Plus side is they still make them ($$) and they are available with threads that use a castle nut and cotter pin.

You ought to get end kits for the old style tie rods as well. From what I could find, modern tie rod ends with the correct tapered shaft are not available for the 3/4ton.

If you get into the kingpins, that's another story. They really need to be taken to a shop, pressed out, and line bored.

I just went out a looked at my 46 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks. The 1/2 ton tie rod end caps will inerchange with 3/4 ton tie rod ends and the drag link. So I think this means that I can get parts for it.

Do not know about the items you mentioned, butI do know the King Pins are different on the 1/2 & 3/4 ton truck.
King Pin Set GM369111 is for the 1946 1/2 ton truck.

The ends should interchange. If you want new balls I think the shafts are different, but are available. I believe the arms are different castings between the two models.

I have to add a comment here. I rebuilt the front end on my 1951 1 Ton and the steering is centered perfectly. If nothing is bent there is no need for an adjustable drag link. Also the old style ball and socket joints are good and snug and not dangerous at all.

I support that completely Fred. All of my front end components are new and the truck steers and behaves just fine at highspeed and steers just fine at low speed also. No problems.
