I found a 50 chassis that the guy has installed a Heidts Mustang II front end and a Heidts 4 link. My question is how can I tell if this was welded on correctly-both front and rear? Is there anyway to put a Heidts on incorrectly?
I am looking at this on Saturday morning so any response before 10pm Friday night would be greatly appreciated.

As a suggestion: Tomorrow go to a welding shop and ask for a certified welder. Tell them your story and offer him $50 or $75 to go with you to inspect the frame on Saturday and to ask the seller under what parameters the front end and 4 link were welded in.

I don't think there is a deterministic way for you to inspect the frame on your own unless you have had some experience on what should be a good weld for those critical components.

P.S. The money and effort to get an informed opinion is more than worth the potential loss of life or property damage if these type of components fail due to poor weldments.

And to add to your question, can they put a Heidt's (or any other kind of kit MII front end or 4 link rear) on wrong, yes they can.

If the front crossmember is not at the right angle, the anti-dive will be messed up.
A common problem with the 4 link is improper pinion angle set up.

Both can be welded in place and just be wrong. There is also the ability to mess up the axle centerlines and improperly alter the wheelbase, plus just get it not square or not in the center of the frame (the front crossmember or the rear axle).

Thanks for the advice. I bought the chassis. Welding looks great and I will send it for an alignment check,but it looks like it was professionally done.
