 It's time to drum out the VP of the SVFD !!! I have it on Good authority that he is NOT ohwell going to paint his fire truck the traditional fire truck Red . The Hoser has been asked to paint it a metal flake Emerald City Green dang and he is going to do it nono. The Wicked Witch of the West has put him under a spell not me so it's either Impeach him or spray him down with water from your firebolts and watch him melt yahoo !
Yes my fellow Firebolters - it is True . This year is the 70th Anniversary of the MGM "OZ" film . And the International Wizard of OZ Fan Club ( yes I'm a member ) will behaving it's annual convention just 12 miles down the road from me - in conjunction with the Wamego Ks OZtoberfest this October. Several of them knowing that my FD is called the OZ Volunteer Fire Brigade thought that the fire truck would be a big hit at their event if it was a "OZ" green and the local OZ museum was hoping that I would paint it that way also .
So there it is . I throw myself to the wolfs of the firebolt pack . Chew me up an spit me out ! ED H

Ed,

One of the nicest trucks in our local club, a '40s model "L" Mack City Service Ladder truck, is in complete, total original condition. And, it is GREEN. Called "The Green Goddess", which also happens to be the nick name of some '50s era National Fire Service trucks in England, which became famous for serving front-line duty during a huge strike of the fire service there. The Green Goddesses became legend.

I had a friend who used to say "any truck that isn't red, never got close enough to a fire to get ripe!". grin

I don't agree, I think there's room for all colors.

Except slime green. THAT was an AWFUL idea . . . dang

By-the-way, HERE is a photo of my beloved Rosie just after the engine came out.

Regardless of the color make sure you do a quailty job. A out of style color is one thing, however if the paint job is equal to the poor color you might just as well bury your head in the sand and say good-by.

I attend many firetruck parades on the east coast and I can say that I've seen firetrucks in just about any color you can imagine. Red is right but green is good too.

Ed,

Seems a moot point now that the gang has pretty told you to quit yappin' about impeaching yourself, but just for grins I went and reviewed the bylaws of the SVFD on "Impeachment of Officers." Here's what I found:

"The 'Self initiation of impeachment proceedings' option for officer removal is reserved solely for the one officer with such authority as is required for it's authorized use -- the immediate past acting chief. Such use, furthermore, can only be exercised during leap years on even months ending with the letter "E."

Soooo, no dice for you, Bub. I'll defer to the Sgt At Arms (Jock) for determination of the penalty for this willful sedition.

I think you better just paint the truck green and quit beefin'

Newsflash !! Asst.Fire Chief found in puddle of goo. cry

Help me I'm melting...........! grin

It's your firetruck Ed,and with the OZ connection,it would certainly be different!
Are you planning on the door art to reflect this?
Why not go the whole nine yards and recruit some these fellas as a fire crew! grin

Yes my dear co-owner jockbolter - The whole truck will reflect the OZ theme . Have not decided on the exact door art yet so feel free to put in your two euros worth in . The pike pole will be a scaled down Wicked Witch "Winkie" guards halberd . Not only will it have the Red fire truck lights but it will also have a complement of OZ Green flashing lights . I am having some difficulty rounding up your fire crew their pay negotiations are killing me they want to many bananas per hour ! While the truck may look like a Hollywood film prop I still want it to be a usable / working fire truck - that's why I bought it .
Well I tried to save the reputation of this Esteemed organization by throwing myself to the firebolt wolfs it seems that I'm to old and grizzle filled to be dis-Membered by the membership and Must fill the position that I was elected ( railroaded ) to - I resend my Impeachment request ( Rat Fink ) . Your continuing Asst.Fire Chief - Grizzle Guts ED H

If you get tired of the schenanigans up there - you can paint your truck any color you want to and move to Texas.

If you are looking for OZ - you may find it either in the Big Thicket area down by Houston or in the Big Bend area out by El Paso.

We know OZ is here and could use your help to identify it.

And you can drive your truck around in any color you want to. With your flying monkeys.
