p.s. I have a pic but don't know how to post it. thanks

Did you unscrew the collar(part around the torque tube) at the rear of the bell neck?

#51210 10/17/2005 2:33 AM | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 153 Member | | Member Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 153 | yes i got the collar unscrewed. the bell is in there real tight. i took the 8 bolts out holding the bigger plate to the transmission but it started to leak fluid so i put them back in. i assume the 4 bolts holding the bell collar on is all i need to remove? do i need to take the sledge hammer to the bell? help?

#51211 10/17/2005 4:16 AM | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 153 Member | | Member Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 153 | i got the bell loose and the ujoint out. now, how do i tell if the u-joint is bad? it doesn't have any balls in it like i expected, and it's got about 1/16" slop back and forth between the caps in the axle side (not the brass flanged sides). it doesn't work as smooth as ball bearing models and i'm surprised this design works as well, but can someone tell me how to know if this thing is bad?
