I have a column shift 3 speed that has been cobbled up with a floor shifter and want to put in a floor shift 4 speed. My question is; what will I need to change over other than the gear box and floor pan?? I have a 61 chevy 1/2 ton with a 235 6 cyl and the donor is a 62 gmc 3/4 with a 305 v6

The drive shaft will be the biggest problem. Take a hard look at the 2 trans. & the length. Check with a local drive shaft shop. They can probably mate the one from the 4 speed to the back part of the 3 speed. Have you check out the 4 speed. Most of the GMC trucks used the NP trans. It can be identified by the aluminum top. The early ones back then were notorious for busted syncros.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.
