I'm making a plate for the Mr. Gasket bellcrank to operate the 4 barrell carb I'm installing. I'm using the original pedal assy to push a rod. This bell-crank will pull a Lokar cable to work the carb by cable control. Has anybody done the on a 292?
Has anybody done this and can suggest or tell of faults to watch out for?

What I did hasn't worked out very well. I used a Lokar cable and found it to be a waste of money if you run it anywhere near your exhaust (the heat of the exhaust binds the cable inside the sheathing). Not only that, but I've found that long throttle cables (as in the type setup we end up having when trying to mount 4 barrels on our straight six engines) tend to not give very good throttle response.

I started fabricating a throttle bracket about six months or so ago and never got around to finishing it. Many people here have surrendered their difficult, inefficient throttle cables for custom made throttle linkages and have not regretted. I hope to be the next one!

I didn't like the idea of a cable so I fabricated linkage based on the same principle as the 1 bbl linkage. I even used as much of the 1 bbl linkage as possible. It works the exact same, the only difference is the push-pull is horizontal instead of vertical.

The arm you see that's attached to the painted blue shaft is the same arm from the 1 bbl and working in the same capacity. Solid, mechanical linkage. No throttle response issues.
