i have a 1971 c-10 and i have a bit of a problem. i 1st bought the truck with a 250 cid flat six w/ a manual tranny and i decided to drop in a v8. long story short, i dropped in an 83 305 and there is no where to stablize the z-bar. i have looked on the block to see if there was anywhere to mount it or possibly have a bracket set up, but i have not found a place yet. i am wondering if anybody could inform me of a kit for this problem or any solutions that do not require a lot of welding and metal work b/c i have no experience and no equipment to do the job. this is the only thing stopping me from getting my project on the road.

I was told that not all small blocks are the same when it comes to the mounting bosses for the clutch linkage z-bar. Some small blocks have the boss(es) for the linkage and some don't. It should be about where you might expect. Inches above the oilpan and forward a few inches of the back of the block. It's been so long since I've seen them that I can't be too accurate in their location.
The blocks that have them can be used with either an automatic or a clutch. If they don't have them then you must modify or maybe use a hydraulic clutch.
