I bought an electric wiper conversion kit about a year ago for my 53 COE. About a week ago I got to the point in the resurection that I needed to install it. I found that it would not clear the stock choke cable at all. After posting here, I found that there are 2 different P/N' wipers for the 47-53 trucks-- one that clears the stock cable location, and one that doesn't. NONE of the parts vendors show this.
I contacted Newport-- they are going to change my bracket for me-- I just have to send to them. thought I would share this info about great product support.

I was quite pleased with the Newport Engineering conversion I purchased. The package had been miss packedged I got like three c clips a single nylon washer. I got on the phone and they sent me enough washers and clips to last untill you can't buy fuel. After I installed the wiper conversion one side didn't selfpark. The tech walked me through the asjustment process, I made a small mistake, and he helped me rectify it. They may not be synronized, like the originals but they have a certain satisfiying Bzzz thunk sound that reminds me of a time long ago and now far away.
