I need to move it a few blocks down the street really don't want to push it the whole way and dont have a big enough truck to tow it. | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 | Would the engine run before the starter gave out? If so there's no reason it wouldn't push start. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 75 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 75 | Yup I drove it home and the starter would not start after I got it parked. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 829 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 829 | Are you sure the starter drive gear isn't just stuck in the teeth of the flywheel? Try putting the transmission in high gear and rocking the truck forward and backward. Worth a big shot! | | | | | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 829 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 829 | It could also have poor connections to the starter/battery/frame/engine.
You do know that it is positive ground instead of negative ground, right? I have no idea why the GMC's are like that. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 75 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 75 | say again? the black wire goes to the starter vs the red wire? | | | | | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 829 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 829 | I have no experience with positive grounded systems.
