Can it still be push started? I need to move it a few blocks down the street really don't want to push it the whole way and dont have a big enough truck to tow it.

Would the engine run before the starter gave out? If so there's no reason it wouldn't push start.

Yup I drove it home and the starter would not start after I got it parked.

Are you sure the starter drive gear isn't just stuck in the teeth of the flywheel?
Try putting the transmission in high gear and rocking the truck forward and backward.
May be worth a try. ohwell

You are right at 230 for a new starter and 180 in Sac for it to be rebuilt! Worth a big shot!

It could also have poor connections to the starter/battery/frame/engine.

You do know that it is positive ground instead of negative ground, right? I have no idea why the GMC's are like that.

I have no experience with positive grounded systems.

Maybe you should ask over in The Electrical Bay.
