While removing the old wiring I thought this wiring seems good , wonder if I should replace it. I'm going to have the cab painted. I'm not going after a show truck but I don't want it to burn up either. I would like some input on this. Sounds like your quite far in anyway and as Tim already said,a modern fuse block will protect your investment!

1. usually just the exposed ends, (about 6-8'' ) get bad on old wiring. if it ain't broke ........... .
2. old wiring only does what the PO or factory wanted it to do. because we now live in a time where we want more... maybe it's time to add another function if you need to.

It only takes one bad wire to ruin your day, and since you have everything out you might as well spend the extra for a new electrical system. That's my .02 anyway.

I didn't, I coated the last six or eight inches of all the wires with liquid electrical tape. I was amazed to find that the original wiring on my '50, was tinned full length. Just another reason I like my truck. I do agree with Bill B, though, cloth covered wire looks right in my opinion. But does cost more... | | |
